Droid Incredible Raises Camera Phone Bar

Other camera phone makers are now hoping to keep pace. Which could very well lead to a ...

Camera-driven arms race in the smartphone sector.
The step up in quality of the Verizon Incredible camera has raised the bar for the rest of the underpowered camera phone makers, and, more than before, it threatens to pull in would-be camera buyers who no longer need separate devices.

On paper, the Verizon Incredible camera is far superior to the current 3.2-megapixel Apple iPhone 3GS and its upcoming 5-megapixel successor. And the shots, especially in daylight conditions, rival those of many compact cameras.

The Verizon Incredible, while huge, is one of the first in a growing selection of big camera superphones coming this year.

Next month -- May 12 to put a date on it -- Sprint(S) will launch the HTC EVO, a WiMax 4G phone that has the same 8-megapixel camera as the Incredible. Later this summer, the delayed debut of the Sony(SNE) Ericsson(ERIC) Xperia X10 is expected. The X10 features Sony's 8.1-megapixel camera. Later this fall, Nokia(NOK) promises to up the ante significantly with a 12-megapixel camera on its N8 touchscreen phone. And, as TheStreet first reported, Apple will upgrade to the Sony 8-megapixel camera on its 2011 iPhone -- potentially the Verizon iPhone.

Here's pretty much everything you need to know about the brand new 8 megapixel cameraphone from hTC Droid. The Incredible.

Personally, I'm really loving my new Droid hTC. After using it in a number of situations this weekend I'm giving it two thumbs up and making it the "Official Cameraphone" of the Cell Phone Photog.

Yes, I'm smitten.

12Mp Cameraphone

... with 28mm Wide Angle Lens Unveiled.

Nokia Unveils Digicam-Beating Cameraphone

The hardware is some of Nokia's most advanced, particularly for photography: a 12-megapixel camera is new to the Finnish phone designer (though not for Symbian) and carries a large sensor closer to that of a compact camera to avoid the noise and chromatic flaws that sometimes creep up in cellphone optics. A newer 680MHz processor and a new graphics core give it the ability to both record and play back 720p video, including with Dolby Digital Plus surround when using HDMI video output to a TV.
How LARGE is the Nokia N8 large image sensor?
Answer: Pretty freakin big.
it turns out that the Nokia N8 camera sensor stretches over roughly 1/1.9″, which is an impressive number on its own. Even if Nokia N8 was a dedicated digital camera, its sensor would still be considered large.

Of course, image quality doesn’t boil down to sensor size exclusively but when you have almost twice the imaging area, chances are you will have more accurate data to process resulting in better dynamic range and lower noise levels.
Full-Res Nokia N8 camera samples
There are so many things going around Nokia N8. In quite an unusual marketing move Nokia just published some "untouched" camera samples. Whoa!

Droid's New 8 Megapixel Cameraphone

... goes on sale April 29.

HTC DROID Incredible has Incredible Camera

The best part of Droid Incredible is its auto-focus 8MP camera which brings more than twice the pixel power of the rival iPhone. Packed with two LED flashes, you can easily capture images even in low light. Wow!

We already know that Incredible is running on the latest Android 2.1 operating system, so you can add a photo editing program, like Photoshop.com Mobile or Foxy Photo Editor and can carry your photo studio on the go!

Cameraphones Will Rule the Photo World

Nokia: Digital SLRs are Doomed
One of the web's "25 most influential people" says that camera phones will soon make digital SLRs obsolete.

"There will be no need to carry around those heavy lenses," Nokia's marketing EVP Anssi Vanjoki told a gathering in Helsinki, according to Reuters.

Citing continuing improvements in cameraphone technology, Vanjoki said: "They will in the very near future revolutionise the market for system cameras."
The revolution wil be cameraphoned.
